(TNND) — A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed Tuesday near the Strait of Hormuz during a patrol mission, according to U.S. Central Command.
The incident occurred near the coast of Oman at approximately 2:41 p.m. local time. Authorities said both pilots were rescued safely within two hours and are in stable condition. No injuries were reported.
Officials are currently investigating the cause of the crash. Further details are expected to be released later Tuesday.
In related news, President Donald Trump expressed optimism regarding ongoing negotiations with Iran while discussing the crash. Despite recent escalations, including exchanges of fire between Iran and Israel, he noted a potential agreement could be reached soon, stating, “We have a good chance” for a deal in “two or three days.”
The ongoing discussions involve significant issues, including Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile and U.S. sanctions.
