BEDFORD, MA – A 16-year-old dirt bike rider was hospitalized following a collision with a car Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. at the intersection of Great Road and Elm Street, according to fire officials. Emergency services responded to the scene and found the rider injured.
As firefighters attended to the rider, the dirt bike's electric battery ignited due to the impact. Crews extinguished the fire using fire extinguishers and approximately 200 gallons of water, taking around 20 minutes to fully resolve the situation.
The rider was transported to Lahey Clinic for medical attention; authorities have not released information about his condition.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
