Fatal crash claims life of 66-year-old Lewes man.

LEWES, DE, Oct. 13 — A 66-year-old man died after crashing his vehicle into a tree on Stockley Road near Milton early Saturday morning.

According to the Delaware State Police, the crash occurred at 12:13 a.m. as Sherman Jackson was driving eastbound in a Toyota Corolla. Police reported that Jackson was when he veered off the south side of Stockley Road, striking a mailbox in the 29000 block before continuing through a front yard and crashing into a tree.

Authorities confirmed that Jackson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident and was at the scene.

Stockley Road was closed for approximately two-and-a-half hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the accident and cleared debris from the roadway.
