JACKSON, MI — A hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 15-year-old honors student on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and North Brown Street. According to authorities, a blue sedan struck Jackson Daniel Mueller while he was crossing the road.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the collision and found Mueller with critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Witnesses reported seeing the blue sedan flee the scene traveling eastbound on Michigan Avenue.
Local police have initiated an investigation into the incident, urging any witnesses to come forward with information. Officers are working to identify the driver of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
No additional injuries were reported from the incident. As a result of the collision, West Michigan Avenue was temporarily closed for approximately two hours to facilitate investigation and cleanup efforts. Authorities expect to release further details as the investigation progresses.
