Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run Fatality of 6-Year-Old in Slidell
SLIDELL, La. — A 35-year-old man has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy Wednesday evening.
According to the Slidell Police Department, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Northshore Lane. The victim, identified as Jeremiah Ramirez, was riding his scooter in his driveway when he was struck by a gray 2022 Chevrolet Suburban that did not stop.
Emergency responders transported Jeremiah to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Authorities later located the SUV on East Gause Boulevard, identifying the driver as Cody Michael Beaudette.
Beaudette was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center. He faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless operation, felony hit-and-run involving death or serious injury, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, urging witnesses to come forward with any relevant information.
