Crash Closes Route 22 in Northampton County for Several Hours

A crash on Route 22 in Northampton County temporarily shut down westbound lanes on Wednesday.

The collision occurred around 11:15 a.m. in a westbound lane between the Center Street and Nazareth Pike exits in Bethlehem Township, according to 511pa.com, PennDOT's traffic website. Eastbound lanes reopened by approximately 1:30 p.m., while westbound lanes were cleared by 4 p.m.

State police spokesperson Trooper Nathan Branosky reported that a dump truck was involved in the incident, spilling asphalt across the eastbound side. The truck driver was transported to the hospital with injuries.

Traffic was significantly affected, causing delays as vehicles were diverted onto Routes 191 and 512.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
