Pelham, NH — A man fled a traffic stop early Saturday, crashed into a tree, and evaded police for nearly six hours, authorities said.

The incident began shortly after 2:00 a.m. on October 14, when the man fled from a traffic stop on Main Street. According to police, he crashed his vehicle into a tree shortly thereafter. After the crash, he exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Law enforcement agencies, including the PELHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT and the NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE, responded to the incident. A search operation was conducted in the surrounding area, utilizing K9 units and aerial support.

The man was located around 7:30 a.m. following tips from the public. He was arrested without further incident. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported from the crash or the subsequent search.

The incident closed a portion of Main Street during the search operation, but all lanes have since reopened. An investigation into the circumstances of the traffic stop is ongoing.
