Johnny Knoxville addressed public concerns via Instagram, clarifying that the noise originated from a special effects sequence created by Elia Popov. “People thought a plane had crashed yesterday in Simi Valley,” Knoxville stated, “but it was just a monstrous explosion for our final day of filming.”
Emergency services were not dispatched to the location, and no injuries or fatalities have been reported. The filming occurred as part of the franchise's last installment, scheduled for theatrical release on June 26, 2026.
Knoxville expressed gratitude to his crew and highlighted the high-energy atmosphere of the shoot. “We were standing near the explosion and couldn't believe what we were seeing,” he wrote.
