Jemison, AL. – One person died in a car crash that left a Calera police officer seriously injured on Tuesday evening in Jemison.
According to a local news source, the fatal crash happened at the intersection of Alabama Highway 191 and County Road 42 West at around 5:20 p.m.
A female officer on duty was driving a patrol car when she collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 64-year-old woman from Jemison.
The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer was seriously injured and was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where she had surgery Wednesday morning.
An investigation into the accident is underway
Jemison and Clanton police are investigating the accident.
