Carroll County, VA. – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Carroll County on Tuesday morning.
According to Virginia State Police, the accident happened around 2:55 a.m. on I-77 northbound near mile marker 9.
A Mercedes Benz CLA250 was traveling north when the driver lost control, went off the left side of the road and struck the end of a guardrail.
The car then spun back onto the road and was hit by a Ford F450 before spinning again and striking the side of a Volvo VNR tractor-trailer.
Police say the Mercedes spun again into a 2025 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and came to a stop off the roadway.
The Mercedes driver was transported to the hospital where he later died.
A passenger of the Mercedes died at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
