Duncanville Woman Killed in Highway 67 Crash While Assisting Accident Victims
DUNCANVILLE, TX — A 40-year-old woman was fatally struck while aiding victims of a separate vehicle crash on Highway 67 near Main Street on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office, Yolanda Garth stopped her vehicle to assist after witnessing a prior collision. While helping, she was hit by another driver attempting to avoid the initial crash.
Authorities confirmed that the driver who struck Garth did stop and is not facing charges. Emergency services were dispatched, but Garth was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported Garth's selfless nature, describing her as someone who always offered help to others. Cadie Maganga, owner of Labelle Braids and Beauty Supply and Garth's mentor, expressed disbelief at the tragedy, noting Garth's commitment to her family and community. “She was always helping people,” Maganga said.
Garth had recently moved into a new home, further complicating the loss felt by her family. Donations are being organized to support her daughters.
Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Dallas. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
