JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. (AP) — Golfer Tiger Woods was arrested Friday afternoon after a rollover crash involving his Land Rover, authorities said.
The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near Woods' residence. According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, Woods attempted to pass a pressure cleaning truck but clipped the trailer, causing his vehicle to roll onto its driver's side. Neither Woods nor the other driver sustained injuries.
Witnesses reported that Woods exhibited signs of impairment at the scene. He underwent a breathalyzer test which returned negative results but refused a urine test. Authorities charged him with driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, both misdemeanors.
Woods' management has not yet responded to requests for comment. This marks the third vehicle incident involving Woods, following a serious crash in February 2021. That accident led to significant injuries and required extensive recovery time.
Woods, 50, has been recovering from multiple back surgeries and had not confirmed his participation in upcoming tournaments, including the Masters scheduled for April 9-12.
