NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — A motorcycle collision on Dorchester Road early morning March 2 resulted in one fatality and significant lane closures.
The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. near Lowell Drive, leading to the closure of a portion of the roadway for approximately two hours as authorities conducted an investigation. The road reopened at about 9:45 a.m., according to Lt. Anthony King of the North Charleston Police Department.
Preliminary findings indicate a heavy-duty pickup truck was traveling westbound on Dorchester Road when it collided with the motorcycle, resulting in the motorcyclist's death at the scene.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased. The driver of the pickup truck remained on-site and is not expected to face criminal charges, according to police.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but further details regarding injuries or medical aid have not been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information was available at this time.
