A Glasgow man was arrested after allegedly escaping from a patrol car while handcuffed early Sunday morning.
According to the Howard County Sheriff's Office, at 2:33 a.m. on November 1, deputies responded to reports of a reckless driver in a Dodge Charger on Highway 5 near Highway 240.
Deputies located the vehicle in a ditch on County Road 210 following a collision with another SUV. The SUV's driver had called 911 to report the situation prior to the crash.
Ryan Suttner, 30, was arrested for allegedly striking the rear of the other vehicle. Court documents indicate he was placed in handcuffs while deputies interviewed the other driver and assessed damages.
Moments later, deputies heard a noise and discovered Suttner fleeing into a nearby field still restrained in handcuffs. A perimeter was established, but he briefly evaded capture.
Witnesses later reported Suttner's location at a residence in Glasgow, where he was taken back into custody.
At the Howard County Detention Center, Suttner registered a blood alcohol content of 0.09. He faces felony charges for First Degree Property Damage and Resisting Arrest, as well as misdemeanor charges for Careless and Imprudent Vehicle Operation, Involving an Accident, and DWI.
Suttner is currently held in the Howard County Jail on a $9,500 bond.
