Plymouth, ME — A woman is dead and two men are injured after a pick-up truck collided with a sedan, sending both vehicles into Plymouth Pond Wednesday night.
Emergency responders received a 911 call about the crash on Moosehead Trail around 6:30 p.m., according to the Penobscot Sheriff's Office. Upon arrival, they found three individuals injured.
Authorities reported that the driver of the sedan, a 67-year-old man, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a 68-year-old woman, suffered life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. The truck driver, a 69-year-old man, also had non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the head-on collision, which occurred as the westbound truck struck the eastbound sedan, is still under investigation. Both vehicles exited the roadway and entered the pond.
Investigation efforts are ongoing, involving deputies from the Penobscot Sheriff's Office, the Criminal Investigation Division, and crash reconstruction teams. No names have been released, and it remains unclear if charges will be filed. Further details will be provided as they become available.
