Crash causes closure on I-12 near Hammond
HAMMOND, LA – A multi-vehicle crash on I-12 Eastbound occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Thursday, resulting in significant traffic disruptions.
Authorities said the accident involved three vehicles and left two individuals with serious injuries. Emergency responders from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office and AMR Medical Services arrived on the scene to provide medical assistance.
According to witnesses, the crash was caused by one vehicle losing control and colliding with the others. The eastbound lanes of I-12 were closed for over an hour while first responders worked to clear the scene and assess the situation.
All injured parties were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials reported that both lanes were reopened around 4:15 p.m., but residual delays are expected.
The incident is under investigation by the Louisiana State Police, who are working to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the crash.
