NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WJAR) — Two people were injured in a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer on I-295 north on Friday.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m., near mile marker 3.4. Fire officials confirmed that two tractor-trailers and one SUV were involved in the collision.
One tractor-trailer, carrying a load of sand, overturned, blocking all northbound lanes. Emergency crews responded, and authorities closed the highway for cleanup operations.
Two individuals were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, including the male truck driver and the female SUV driver, as reported by Attleboro fire officials.
Authorities noted that the overturned truck leaked a significant amount of vehicle fluids. Crews employed sand and containment bins to mitigate environmental impact, preventing the fluids from entering storm drains.
Northbound lanes remained closed until around 5:15 p.m. The crash is currently under investigation.
