Fatal Crash Closes US-52 in Carroll County
CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. — A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on US-52 near Vanbuskirk Road on Monday afternoon.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, the accident was reported just before 1:30 p.m. The vehicle was traveling east when it veered off the roadway, struck trees, and ended up in a stream.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Authorities closed the area between Benton Street and Vanbuskirk Road following the incident; it has since reopened for normal traffic flow.
