Eugene, OR — Lane County is set to begin the third trial of Amber Gonzalez-Riddle, charged in connection with a fatal crash near Willamette Pass in November 2022.
According to authorities, Gonzalez-Riddle was involved in a car crash on Highway 58, east of Oakridge, while fleeing a suspected domestic violence incident. The collision resulted in the death of her 5-year-old daughter and injuries to herself, her boyfriend, her younger daughter, and the occupants of the other vehicle involved.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, providing medical aid to the injured. The other vehicle's occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
Authorities reported that the crash prompted temporary lane closures on Highway 58 as responders worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation. This ongoing legal matter has garnered significant attention in the community.
