WESTPORT, RI — Two people were injured in a box truck crash on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Route 6, near the intersection with Main Street. A box truck collided with a passenger vehicle, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.
Emergency responders from the Westport Fire Department arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance. Two individuals were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities reported that the crash led to the closure of the eastbound lanes of Route 6 while crews worked to clear the wreckage. The Westport Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident and has not released additional details about the involved parties.
Towing services have been requested to remove the vehicles from the roadway. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during the ongoing investigation.
