Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur hospitalized following hit-and-run crash en route to church, say police.

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Ohio Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur was on Sunday morning following a hit-skip crash near Toledo.

According to the Toledo Police Department, Kaptur, 80, was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck, injuring her driver, 26-year-old Kegan Zimmerman. Both Kaptur's and Zimmerman's injuries are reported as non-life-threatening, and Kaptur remains in stable condition.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:48 a.m. near North Detroit and West Central avenues. Toledo Police confirmed that both vehicles involved in the incident have been impounded for evidence processing.

Authorities said the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. Investigators are pursuing several leads to identify the driver responsible. A witness reported that the suspect was picked up by another vehicle after the collision.

Kaptur's office expressed gratitude for the swift response of Toledo Police and Fire Departments, as well as the medical professionals assisting those involved. The Congresswoman looks forward to returning to her full schedule soon.
