Police Seek Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Lowell
LOWELL, MA – Authorities are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in a woman's death on Chelmsford Street Thursday night.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was walking in the 700 block of Chelmsford Street at approximately 11:55 p.m. when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Lowell Police have released surveillance images of a vehicle of interest and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Lowell Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit, the Criminal Investigations Bureau, and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
Authorities continue to gather evidence and confirm details surrounding the crash, and the roadway remains open to traffic.
