Gresham Man Arrested After Fatal Crash Involving UTV
A 49-year-old man from Gresham was arrested on Oct. 20 after crashing into a UTV on BLM Road 16-7-30 near Triangle Lake, resulting in the death of a male passenger in the UTV.
The man faces charges of DUII and has been lodged at the Lane County Jail, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office. Authorities stated the case will be referred to the Lane County District Attorney's Office for potential additional charges.
At approximately 5 p.m., deputies and fire personnel responded to the incident, discovering that the UTV had rolled over, fatally injuring a passenger. Although the victim may have been seat-belted, he was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
As of Oct. 21, no formal charges have been filed against the Gresham man at the Lane County Circuit Court. The Register-Guard does not publish the names of the accused until they have been arraigned in court.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
