MANCELONA, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — A 67-year-old man from Linden died following a collision between his dirt bike and a side-by-side vehicle on an ATV trail on Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on October 17, according to the Antrim County Sheriff's Office. Emergency responders included Michigan State Police, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Otsego County Fire Department, and medical personnel.
Authorities reported that the dirt bike rider entered the path of a side-by-side operated by a 58-year-old man from Mount Clemens. The impact resulted in fatal injuries for the dirt bike rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
An off-duty firefighter initiated lifesaving measures prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel, who continued these efforts.
Investigators noted that there is no indication of alcohol or drug involvement in the crash. The Antrim County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation.
