TOWN OF CADIZ, Wis. (WKOW) — A tragic head-on collision on STH 11 resulted in the death of a 56-year-old man and left a 23-year-old woman injured. The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening, shortly after 6:30 p.m., in the Town of Cadiz.
The 56-year-old victim was behind the wheel of a van heading west when it collided with an SUV operated by the younger woman. Emergency responders reported that she sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, while the older man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both vehicles suffered extensive damage due to the impact and were subsequently removed from the area.
Authorities from the Green County Sheriff's Office noted that it is still unclear whether either driver was wearing a seatbelt; however, airbags in both vehicles deployed during the crash.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident is ongoing.
