HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (CBS12) — A man has been arrested in Chicago weeks after allegedly crashing into a Hollywood police officer’s patrol car and fleeing the scene.
The incident occurred around 12:00 a.m. on May 20, near Hollywood Boulevard and North Ocean Drive. A collaborative effort between Hollywood police and federal law enforcement led to Echiusciu’s arrest on June 10 by the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Echiusciu is in the United States illegally from Russia and faces several charges, including:
- Leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury

Authorities are working on extraditing Echiusciu to Broward County to face these charges. Police thanked the involved agencies, including the Broward State Attorney’s Office, for their rapid response in locating the suspect. The injured officer continues to receive community support during recovery.
