MINOT, ND — A 74-year-old Minot woman died from injuries sustained in a T-bone crash on Sunday, May 17.

According to a North Dakota Highway Patrol news release, the incident occurred around 5:32 p.m. when a 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman, carrying the deceased as a passenger, was traveling westbound on Highway 2. Simultaneously, a 2012 Ford Fusion was moving northbound on 13th Street Southeast.

The Mini Cooper collided with the Ford Fusion at the intersection, leaving both vehicles disabled in the northwest portion of the intersection. The Mini Cooper’s driver, a 74-year-old Minot man, and his passenger were seriously injured and transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot, where the woman later succumbed to her injuries.

The Ford Fusion’s driver, a child from Glasgow, Montana, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. A second child passenger, also from Glasgow and not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to Trinity Hospital, while a third occupant, a child from Minot, was unharmed.

Authorities noted that all occupants of the Mini Cooper and the third passenger of the Ford Fusion were wearing seatbelts. Weather conditions were reported as wet due to light rain at the time of the accident.

The crash is under investigation by the Highway Patrol, with charges against both drivers pending.
