Delaware County, Ohio — April 21, 2026: A tractor-trailer driver appears in court over an April 11 Interstate 71 crash that killed three.

Authorities said Modou Ngom, 50, of Columbus, faces three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and four counts of vehicular assault.

Court records show he was indicted by a Delaware County grand jury on April 16.

The nine-vehicle collision occurred near the U.S. 36/Route 37 interchange on I-71 in Delaware County. Lynnea Soposki, her husband, Luke, and their 1-year-old son, Logan, died. Three other people were injured, authorities said.

According to court records, Ngom did not brake or take evasive action before rear-ending a car, pushing it into other vehicles and across multiple lanes.

Records show he was driving a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer, the sole vehicle operated by his trucking company, for which he was the only driver.

If convicted, authorities said the charges carry potential penalties of up to 5 years per aggravated vehicular homicide count and up to 18 months per vehicular assault count.
