A motorcyclist was killed in a crash near Intermountain Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 2:41 p.m. when the motorcyclist, a man in his mid to late 20s, collided with a car turning left onto Intermountain Drive while traveling westbound on 5300 South. Witnesses attempted CPR until first responders arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Authorities said they do not suspect impairment as a factor in the crash, though the role of speed remains under investigation.

Westbound lanes on 5300 South will be closed until approximately 9 p.m. as officials continue their investigation.
